If you are ever in Austin Texas and you like semi-technical mountain bike trails you should ride the Barton Creek Greenbelt. About 5.75 miles into the trail there's a small oasis. It is almost too far for most people to walk in (from the park) and there is usually nobody there unless the creek is flowing and the hippies are out.
In the 105° heat of summer it is one of the only places to get relief out on the trail. A spring pours right out of the side of a cliff. It is a great place to rest and replenish your strength to go ride "The Hill of Life".
The Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail starts at the Barton Creek pool in Zilker Park and it goes about 7.75 miles to the top of The Hill of Life (a category four climb). For a decent rider the round trip ride will take about two hours.
