A Portland cyclist is suing Oregon Pacific Railroad Co. for up to $10,000, saying she crashed after her bike tire got caught in a railroad crossing gap along the popular Springwater Trail in Southeast Portland last July.
Marcy Jacobs says in the suit that she was riding her bike south on the trail and turned left at the intersection with Southeast Spokane Street to head east on the sidewalk.
As she was crossing the tracks, "her bicycle wheel became caught in a 2-inch-wide by 29-inch-long gap in the railroad crossing," says the suit, filed last week in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
