KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — When Casey Clark saw some NASCAR teams struggling to find financing, he knew it may be time to steer his career as a mechanic away from the race track.
Clark had been working in NASCAR since 2000, but had also started his own side business in Kannapolis, building handcrafted bicycles for his company, Altitude Bikes.
He found that the skills he used to build racing chassis for NASCAR teams, such as Roush Racing and the Red Bull team, could be adapted to making bicycle frames.
