Bike through nature at Texas state parks | Dallasnews.com

Maybe you relish biking your way through rugged mountain terrain. Or you like to go biking with your family, which includes a couple of children. You can do both at state parks, wheeling your way through meadows and woods and beside rivers and lakes.
Check out the biking chart on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s website. It lists parks with biking trails, the number of miles of trail at each park and each trail’s difficulty rating — beginning, intermediate or advanced.
Parks are grouped by region of the state. For a Fast Break, check out Prairies and Lakes, Piney Woods and Hill Country. If you want to stay overnight, those parks will have campsites and might have cabins. Be sure your don’t-forget-to-take list includes a helmet for each rider, a map, snacks, water, sunscreen and bike-repair equipment.
